The user should have metrics showing the results and benefits of their AI empowered exercise and nutrition plan. One simple one is how much more work they can do over time in their workouts each week, counting increases in weights, times, distances, etc.

I'm a follower and advocate of the appropriate technology movement, originally formulated by E.F. Schumacher in his book, Small is Beautiful, Economics as if People Mattered. The basic idea is to empower people with technology rather than centralizing power in corporations.

I think that Theodore Kaczynski would agree that modern technological progress is going quickly down the wrong road, another author admired by Mr. Mangione. On this we agree.

Some of the historical texts cited are quite valuable. For instance, "The direction of the mind is more important than its progress, " quoting Joseph Joubert. The author's take, "It is better to go fast on the right road than to go slow, but it's worst to go fast on the wrong road."

He writes, "Moral questions are too urgent and too important to be left to science." If you do not know the consequences of your choices, you cannot be held morally accountable. Cause and effect in nature, as God created it, is certain and knowable. Moral responsibility is a joke otherwise.

All of its arguments are on the superficial side while it pretends to depth. In "A Timeless Defense of Faith", he uses the usual science vs. faith argument, which is a false debate since moral choice is incompetent without knowledge of cause and effect in God's creation.

That was an easy read. Rather simple, and supportive of authoritarian social and economic organization. Distinctly undemocratic in its conclusions drawn from classic historical works.
