They look like they might benefit from a bit of pruning, it’s still not too late, cut spindly branches back by about a third, allowing the tree to grow stronger branches to carry fruit.

Get a composter for the kitchen waste, it’s amazing how quickly you fill it with egg shells, potato peelings, cabbage/ cauliflower leaves, coffee grinds etc Newspaper and cardboard can also be added. Add directly to your compost bin or dig a trench and burry into your beds.

Yes, I had a weekend of digging over a few beds, plus some more temporary repairs to my damaged poly tunnel, so today I’m sat on the sofa with a W.M.Craven book wondering if my backache will subside enough for me to cook some food.
It’s no fun being old.
