i don’t disagree. i suspect people who think of themselves as phenomenal realists but hand waive away the HP have no idea what phenomenal realism is (namely, realism about properties for which there is a hard problem)

i’m using it like this: if the you have one mental state at one time and a different mental state at a different time then your mind has undergone a change. this use of mind is neutral with respect to whether the mind is a thing that has mental states (descartes) or is a sum of mental states (hume)

that makes zero sense. how can the english mind run the program across a sequence of steps without itself changing from step to step? can you mentally do long division while your mind is entirely static???
