Everyone agrees UK creative sector (employing 2.3 million Brits and earning £125 Billion a year for UK) has been very negatively hit by Brexit.

But Brexiters want to sacrifice the £125 Billion British creative industry for UK fishing that employs just 18,000 and earns only £1 Billion a year?…

Not just Canadians, but the entire world loathe both pro-Trumpers telling us he’s the second coming of Christ, or anti-Trump Americans telling us he’s harmless and just ignore him. Its hardly surprising no one in their right mind will now ever visiting US.

Absolutely. We can look at their actions to make a judgement…

All blue states voting Democrat were already providing the USA’s highest levels of public services, education & public-funded healthcare…. All these states all have strongest legislation protecting rights/freedoms of minority communities

I must disagree with you on that.

The “Uncommitted” group loudly promoted their refusal to endorse Harris, then just days after Harris lost the election, the group were on national US television terrified that the incoming President Trump will enable Israel to decimate Palestinians in Gaza…

Greta Thunberg and groups like “Uncommitted” got huge media for refusing to endorse Harris due to Biden on Gaza. Thunberg particularly has huge voice due to her climate activism.
If they caused just a few thousand Harris voters in swing states to not bother voting, it tipped balance to Trump.

Starmer clearly very sensitive to opinion of UK right-wing media and voters.

Starmer performatively singing trade “deals” with India and USA gives Starmer credibility with the Brexit nutters and press. Indeed, they’ve all spent past two weeks praising Starmer…

Im not sure the Home Secretary standing at the dispatch box telling parliament she will specifically rule out an EU youth mobility scheme could be described as anonymous…

UK voter support for Brexit drops every year. Davey vociferously promoting the values Brits share with EU and actively criticising Brexit would place him together with 4 out of 5 British voters - while pro-Brexit Starmer and Farage fight each other to appeal to the remaining one of five UK voters…

Might there now be a few desperate strategists in CCHQ seeing an opportunity in the ever-growing disapproval Brits have of Brexit… and flip Tory party EU policy 180 degrees to enable Tories to promote themselves in 2029 as UKs most pro-EU political party?…
May 4, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Great show - thanks!

Just a silly hypothesis…

Tories are now so squeezed by pro-Brexit Reform on the right and pro-Brexit Labour on the left - as well as the LibDems who never promote their LibDem pro-EU position…

My apologies to the people of Greenland - i forget to include them - as I understand are aiming to become an independent nation….

They too will be an excellent inclusion in this belt of associate EU members surrounding the Eurozone!
April 28, 2025 at 11:45 AM
@mikegalsworthy.bsky.social recently made a great point… If we shift out viewpoint of Earth just a few degrees north, we can easily envision a two-tier EU of the central Eurozone surrounded by a neighbouring belt of associate nations UK, Ukraine, Turkey and Canada…

We must note Scots fiscal deficit is consistently negligible compared to all those God-awful English regions with a combined population of over 40 million people. These English regions need billions of annual subsidies just to survive.

Theres no way just 5.5 million Scots make 53% of UK deficit…

Let’s look at some recent GERS figures…

Indeed, even the rampant Brexiter and iconic co-chairman of the 2016 “Vote Leave” campaign is no longer alive to advocate for his beloved Brexit…
April 24, 2025 at 9:28 AM
This demographic maths clearly explains why Brexit support dropped from 52% in 2016 to just 31% in 2023 - only 7 years later. Almost 4 million Leave voters are no longer alive to defend their Brexit vote…
April 24, 2025 at 9:26 AM
Those 500,000+ Leave voters who die each year are being replaced by approx 700,000 young Brits joining the electorate annually - over 80% of whom are pro-EU…
April 24, 2025 at 9:25 AM
These are the just 19 Labour MP’s who voted with Tories in 2019 for the second reading of the Tories’ Brexit Bill - killing off opposition to Brexit in parliament, and allowing Johnson to move forward to enact his appalling Brexit in early 2020…

The foundation of Starmer’s 30-year legal career was habeas corpus & human rights protections

Starmer now considering keeping UK distant from EU (who actively protect habeas corpus & human rights) as Starmer considers trade deal with Trump (who is actively dismantling habeas corpus & human rights)…

Almost 70% of UK steel exports are to the EU and the industry/jobs still coping with negative impacts Brexit - while only 9% is exported to the US and impacted by Trump’s new tariffs. Yet the show only mentioned/blamed Trump, when damage from
Brexit plays a much greater role.

In the case of Brexit, not really….

The UKs nuclear deterrent is supposed to project UK force thousands of miles at supersonic speeds towards UK foes - except it’s ancient technology, doesn’t work, and won’t be replaced by an “America First” USA who Trump explained will no longer sell best defence tech to any foreign nation.
