I have a few quite nice photos on the big camera, but I didn't bother bringing a wide lens with me so I just snapped this one with the phone.

I must say I haven't ever moved on from being absolutely furious about the cabal of glib dilettantes who have spent the last decade refusing to acknowledge their obvious, disastrous wrongness about everything, especially their notional area of expertise.

THIS. "I have been disastrously wrong about every aspect of everything, especially within my notional area of expertise. So, pay attention while I tell you what to do next"

I have absolutely no time for these glib dilettantes, who through their incuriosity, motivated reasoning, malice and/or rank amateurishness crush the livelihoods of those they will never even meet, treating it all like a game. Eight per cent GDP! Whoops-a-daisy! Oh well, never mind!

I will listen - briefly - if he wants to say "I renounce my association with Cato and deplore their work, I acknowledge my contribution has been a disastrous combination of hubris and confirmation bias, I apologise unreservedly for the harm I have caused & will no longer engage in policy discourse".

It's not its significance where my perspective differs, more its age. For me the emergence of the Soulslike and the revival of run-based games are fundamentally modern developments; on those grounds, "contemporary" games start at about Spelunky and Demon's Souls, and "historical" is before that.

I tried BoI but ended up giving it a miss because it just seemed to me like Smash TV but a bit tonally confused, from which you may reasonably infer that I am Old.

(On the other hand I love Enter the Gungeon, but find it hard to think of it as historical!)

"when you're young"

I've just checked how old I was when Enter the Dungeon was released, and now I'm off to crumble into dust.

Yes, that's what an O is. Also: yes, that's what a ring is.

Leak. LEAK, dammit. And I found a big hole I hadn't spotted, which accounts for not fixing the second leak. Spare parts ordered; we continue.
