It’s required a lot of faff. How would you explain different ABVs on say a Vi1 to the label? And yes an original Vi1 is still required for re-export to the EU from the UK, which some supermarkets do.

I completely agree with you here, and I’m surprised that they got rid of the easement. I thought that Labour were intelligent enough to get rid of the sliding duty rates for wine full stop and recognise this for the sort of unnecessary red tape that it is.

But is that really going to happen? Are some wineries really going to produce separate front labels with a falsely lower ABV for the UK market? I’m not sure that they can be bothered.

Isn’t this an annual event now? I’m sure I read about them doing this last year and the year before?
