Still prototyping. The idea is that flowers convert sunlight into energy which is transferred into the circuits of ancient machines. Playing with different ways of visualising that and mechanics around blocking/unblocking the sunlight. #godotengine #indiedev #gamedev #blender3d #godot #indiegame

I freely admit that this is an ugly mess. But it is also the very first step in prototyping a new way of interacting with plants in my #indiegame #shorticulture. Hopefully this will come together over the next few days and I will share something more meaningful. #indiedev #godotengine

Happy #screenshotsaturday! I am in the process of reimagining my #indiegame with a simpler more abstract graphical style. Something more along the lines of #monumentvalley. The main reason for this is readability. There is too much going on in the current demo that distracts from the puzzles.

I have been experimenting with using synplant 2 as a #sounddesign tool for my #indiegame. It is capable of making the kind of organic otherworldly sounds I need. Also the plant vibe kinda fits with #shorticulture. #indiedev #solodev

I was lucky enough to meet some of the amazing team behind @debugmag.com at #developbrighton yesterday. I am now the proud owner of the first 10 issues (digital - I don't do physical media) and have taken out a subscription. I would urge any #indiedev or #indiegame fan to check them out.

This is divisive I know (happy to have the debate) but I use AI as visualisation tool. The will be no AI generated content in game. It just allows me to iterate ideas quickly before designing assets. This was a mock-up of my plant-walker drone. #indiegame #indiedev #solodev #midjourney

In the run-up to #norwichgamesfestival I found some bugs that were only on the #steamdeck. Best way to debug them? Run the #godotengine on the deck. It makes a great little dev machine in desktop mode. #indiedev #indiegame #shorticulture.

My protagonist Sp1k-E speaks in a series of bleeps, blurps and burbles Their intentions are (hopefully) made clear by a series of pictograms displayed in speech bubbles. I have been working on making these clearer and (again hopefully) a little nice looking. #indiedev #indiegame #shorticulture

Sp1k-E has an upgrade to their scanner. Now it locks onto the closest track and follows it. This makes it much easier to see what happens with circuits below the surface. Next step, come up with a nice UI to enable switching tracks. #inidedev #indiegame #shorticulture

In #godot there is a "disable stdout" option in amongst the "run" settings. If an #indiedev were to inadvertently check that without realising it was there, it would cause them hours of frustration. Ask me how I know 🤣 #indiegame #shorticulture #godotengine

I've been wanting to try this for a while, #shorticulture on #ios. No touch UI yet (using a Bluetooth controller) and the framerate isn't amazing. But I'd say it's playable. #indiegame #indiedev #godotengine

I've been coding like a lunatic! 25 years of real-time mission critical C++ has made me a pretty disciplined dev - most of the time. But in the rush to get something playable for #norwichgamesfestival I reached for the gaffer tape a lot! Time for some clean-up and refactoring. #indiedev #indiegame
