Göbekli Tepe (c. 9600 BCE) predates Stonehenge by 6,000 years. Built by hunter-gatherers, it features massive stone pillars with carved animals and symbols. No homes, just ritual. It may prove belief systems sparked monumental architecture before farming.

A new study indicates that seagrass, an edible coastal plant that harbors a diversity of sea creatures, has been used across the world since at least the Paleolithic and in caves inhabited by Neanderthals 180,000 years ago.

Ancient Greek and Roman statues often smelled like roses, a new study says
Ancient Greek and Roman statues didn't originally look like they do now in museums. A new study says they didn't smell the same, either.

A bit of humor for #MosaicMonday. Here, an overweight and drunk Silenus has caused his poor donkey to collapse. Two slaves try to lift the animal by pulling it by the ears and tail. I think this likely depicts a scene from a theatrical comedy - a laugh riot with men in a donkey suit. 🏺

A jade burial suit made of pieces of jade in which royal members in Han dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD), China were buried.

The suit is constructed of 4,248 custom cut jade pieces connected by gold wire. Jade suits were first documented in literature around 320 AD.
