When I was in school we did a number of books now banned in class. To kill a Mockingbird, Animal Farm, which led me read 1984 independently. It is the poetry of TS Eliott that sticks with me. I've they banned that? #bookbans

So 2.9% of the Chinese economy is driven by exports to the USA and let's assume tarrifs cut that in half. Much if the lost trade will end of elsewhere. So I can see China being firm.

We also need a return to the former Commonwealth Employment Service model that actually helped ppl find jobs. The current privateer model gives incentive to keep ppl unemployed on their books to keep getting $, not lose them off the books by finding them a job. #Auspol

The key dynamic to USA is that empires past their peak have an unsustainable debt process. Oligarchs will not address this fairly, seeking to make everyone else pay. This is easy as the USA does not see it as an empire, let alone falling one.

A massive neoliberal policy failing by ALP and LNP. Don't put for profit corporations in charge of services for vulnerable people. Aged care, childcare, disability care, even prisoners, mental health care, employment services all have a history of shame and exploitation.

A deeper cause of #maga is that the US is empire past it peak and as such is in habit of spending more than it income. The #oligarchs impose the costs onto the poor amd less powerful.
