The poisoned artifacts killed the princess (as well as the princess' father when he tried to save her). Medea also decided to kill her own two sons in order to further enact her revenge against Jason. She then fled the kingdom on a chariot pulled by dragons, courtesy of her grandfather Helios.

Also, later on in life, Jason ended up betraying Medea and their two sons when he decided to leave Medea in favor of marrying a younger princess. In an act of vengeance, Medea sent a dress and a crown to the princess, both of which were laced with poison.
