This is good advice
A piece of career advice I give people I mentor is to go where you are valued. It means it’s important to be in a role where you are respected, recognized and rewarded.

Sometimes despite tenure, it’s better to leave and accelerate your career trajectory versus staying where you’ve been written off.

I think the funny part of this stage of the AI revolution is that I have pretty much zero allegiance to any product. I’ve been digging Cursor but the new GitHub Copilot seems pretty nice.

Some Fridays are pretty chill and other Fridays you have to remove a live bird from your dryer with nothing but a broomstick, a pillowcase, and your wits.

Introducing Variations – a React library built for rapid prototyping and design exploration. This was inspired by my team at Goldcast who design with code. With our process it's been tough to quickly explore different design solutions. This should help: github.com/dperrera/var...

Whoever made this graphic belongs in the Pantheon of graphic designers. Just... 🤌
It’s never a good sign when I have an opportunity to post this exceptional public health graphic.

I think we're entering a golden age of software. I have a lot to say on the topic but it boils down to one main point – in the coming months and years there will be fewer layers between the people with great taste and the final product.

At the end of every year I take the last two weeks off and explore stuff that I couldn't get around to during the regularly scheduled programming. This year, I dug into local first development and built an app that I can't *wait* to use when I get back to work.

Went to an art hanging party tonight and it’s so lovely to gather around something that brings people so much joy.

Art is the best.

I know that GraphQL has kinda fallen out of favor but I still love it, especially for navigating large complicated API like Shopify. It's a top notch DX.

It's been so long since I've actively posted on social media. What do you all want see? Design stuff? Developer stuff? Product stuff? Design Engineering stuff?

The only thing I've ruled out is hot takes on current events. I love talking about it but social is obviously not the format for that.

Well, on one hand you have an old dude who is a pathological liar and felon with no moral compass that tried to overthrow American democracy and on the other hand you have a pretty normal old dude. So, just gonna go with the normal old dude on this one. I watched the Olympic trials instead.
The first presidential debate of the 2024 cycle, hosted on Thursday by CNN, attracted nearly 48 million viewers, according to early data provided by the network — far fewer than 2020’s first debate, which drew 73.1 million.
Ratings for first presidential debate down sharply from 2020
The drop in the number of debate viewers, from 73 million to 48 million, was not surprising, since the Biden-Trump debate occurred so early in the election cycle.
