Chester joined his sister yesterday, after a struggle with anemia and kidney failure that caused him to lose most of his sight over the past few weeks. But he had a good day and passed in his favorite place, in my arms.

65lb lap dog

It's 70F today. It's gonna be 100F on Friday. And we just got 1-2cm hail. Weather is wild.

Accidentally tore my keyboard's flat flex cable when reassembling, so I tried to repair it myself.. and it worked.
Orange flat flex cable, 20+ pins, which has an angular bend where the traces are compacted. Pins 1 and 2 are severed here, being right in the bend. Plastic has been scraped away to expose the copper of the traces both before and after the break. Same orange flex cable, only now with two incredibly tiny strands of copper wire poorly soldered to the previously exposed copper traces. The work surface was my wallet as the cable was still attached to the keyboard PCB and could not lay flat on the table. The ribbon cable inside a UV nail polish curing device, as the copper wire, traces, and solder joints have been covered with a UV-cured nail polish top coat for protection. The repaired flex cable, with a cured blob of nail polish over the traces, solder joints, and copper wire for protection.

We said farewell to Haze today. He had just turned 16 yesterday, a milestone we were hoping he'd make it to with his declining health.

Meryl passed on yesterday. She was such an intense part of my life, as anyone can see from what I post here. 17 years of such intense companionship and love that none other has ever come close too. I will forever miss her.
