The FBI loves it when criminals create an auditable and unalterable trail. It works well to avoid basic surveillance, it is awful at hiding from actual investigators.

We are where we are with this because you chose to go to war with software instead of allowing common sense regulations to be put in place. *Slow Clap*

"Bitcoin can't go to $300k because tradfi has started adopting it" is definitely an opinion I guess...

What fascist oligarchs are funding Bitcoin research?
December 12, 2025 at 12:51 AM
This report is from 2019 and based on what appears to be 2017 data. Maybe you (USAID) should have another look. Bitcoin is now legal, or soon to be legal, in these regions.

The report also notes that people use Bitcoin here. Claiming it is useless because it is 'illegal' ignores reality.

I'm a Bitcoiner. Not a clue what OP is talking about...

"Everybody is saying" - Donald

Agreed. OP was insinuating that Bitcoin is political. I was being cheeky by pointing out that if we were to assign some kind of political affiliation to decentralized open source software (which we shouldn't), then it would be associated with an anti-authoritarianistic ideology.

Not sure I would call it bullish, but my main interest is probably how Bitcoin mining can and is being used to help with renewable microgrid buildout in areas of the world that lack access to electricity.

Fascism inherently requires government control of the financial system and monetary rails.

Bitcoin inherently inhibits government control of monetary rails.

How do you see my thinking as being incorrect here?
December 10, 2025 at 4:38 AM
Bitcoin is free open source software that functions as a store of value and payment network.

I guess you could call it anti-authoritarian as no person, organization, or government can control it.

Trump doesn't sell Bitcoin, he sells crypto. One of the few things he actually buys is Bitcoin.
December 10, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Not to mention that using it for fraudulent or illegal things is not inherently bad. Bitcoin is illegally used by women in places where women are not allowed to use money. Bitcoin is illegally used to buy HRT by trans folks who are denied rights regarding their own bodies. Etc.
December 10, 2025 at 2:25 AM
While small scale miners like Gridless are expanding, building out renewable microgrids in rural Africa. Warehouse mining was/is a temporary condition. All mining roads lead to utilizing stranded/waste energy or providing additional services like Demand Response, heat re-use, CH4 mitigation, etc.
December 10, 2025 at 2:14 AM
Ironically, Bitcoin is one of the few things in this world that is available to everyone. It's free open source software that is not gate-kept by any individual, company, organization, or government.

I agree. This is how a fixed supply deflationary money should work. As deflation moves forward, it approaches zero. The closer it gets to zero, the less of a percent of the total is added to the supply. So this change in supply stabilizes, which removes what was a major aspect of supply and demand.

In regard to people subjugation others by controlling their access to money, it doesn't matter how much BTC whales hold. They still can't control who or how others use the network.

Wealth inequality is a separate issue, but one that I believe BTC is trending in the right direction on.

That comment was just one made in passing, it was not directed at you. But it is one of the main arguments used to discredit Bitcoin on a daily basis within the largest crypto critical community in the world (Buttcoin subreddit).
December 9, 2025 at 9:18 AM
A common saying in Bitcoin is 'come for the gains, stay for the revolution'. Out of curiosity, has your interest been picqued regarding how the technology can be used by many different people in many different ways? Or is it's use as a savings technology the main thing you are interested in?
December 9, 2025 at 7:55 AM
Unfortunately, there are already many places in the world where corrupt government and dictators exert their will on the people through their complete control of money. 😔
December 9, 2025 at 7:41 AM
I always chuckle when I see the Buttcoiner types say 'it's been 15 years' as evidence that Bitcoin failed. As if it should have gone from anonymous internet post, with no existing user base, marketing budget, PR dept, etc, to world reserve currency in less time than Soutpark has been on the air.
December 9, 2025 at 7:37 AM
We are one step away from a Trumpian figure being able to see a social media post, point and yell 'ANTIFA!', and with the push of a button completely remove any individuals or groups access to money.

This will cause a challenge for Bitcoin, but also push people towards it. Time will tell.
December 9, 2025 at 7:33 AM
All money is already digital. If you mean CBDCs, then yeah, they can roll them out in an instant. CBDCs give governments complete control, bypasses the buffer we currently have with banks.

Bitcoin snuck in just under the wire. It's our only shot at avoiding a truly dystopian future.

I'm middle aged, so fits along with my thinking of my lifetime. 😃

And that was before we had 100M+ people, central banks, governments, companies, etc who owned it. Before we had ETFs and massive futures/options/derivites markets in every major financial hub globally. 10 years ago they maybe could have fought it. But today? Nah. The cancer has seeded and spread.
