The authors should certainly write, but it isn't the case that authors "own the copyright" for works which have been licensed to publishers. The new publisher of that work should also be writing since it is their right that is being violated.

I've been alerting my publisher clients on this as well. It is only when the bigger guns get involved that such a pervasive site will be taken down, IMO.

Its funny how many of those "get free ebooks here!" sites are scam sites. I'm not sure of the ethics of people who try to steal books themselves getting fake credit card charges (and no ebooks), but I'm not sad about it.

I think we will almost certainly have a number of advertisers to help out in the meantime, though. Those companies that stopped advertising on Twitter didn't just go out of business.
