I love my wife and my cats, lament barely maintaining a writing habit, & sometimes talk about knitting.

We are at the end of our tomato ripening venture. Rudy has finally decided to just accept their presence on the windowsill, and use them to his benefit.

My wife and I have walked into the bathroom to find her partial container open at least twice in the last 24 hours.

I managed to catch the culprit in action. She made me wait almost 3 minutes before she finally went for it. Such a silly baby.

Success! I also mis-counted, and we only have 6 jars, not 7. But all 6 have sealed!

The plums became juice, which is now syrup. Just waiting for the jars to seal. So far, we are 1 for 7. 🤞🤞

Processing some plums we got from friends today.

I was a little saddened to realize the box the steam juicer was in doesn't really smell like my grandmother's sewing room anymore.

Chanski is very appreciative of our bounty. #tomatoes #daggerbeast

We have successfully grown and consumed a massive tomato.

It was probably the biggest tomato in our garden, and it made a delicious BLT and was also good on some sourdough bread with a smear of mayo.

We have witnessed the presence of a gray squirrel, and now it's the only show we should be watching on Cat TV™️.

Some of our carrots might qualify for entry into a "rude vegetable contest."

The rainbow variety has been interesting to grow this year; I think we'll do it again.

We can't keep up with our tomato haul. I have to start processing this weekend since we don't have enough room to store much more in our freezer.

Someone rode a bicycle down our street.

First time trying borscht.

Made from beets, carrots, and dill we grew, stock we made, and potatoes and beans we bought.

My wife spent hours in the kitchen working on this. It certainly looks pretty.

This little man is 9 years old today. He's celebrating by melting into goo.

Happy birthday, Rudy!

Unpacking is going well this morning.

Someone is positively THRILLED to be at the vet today.

We've spent most of our gardening energy on our community garden plot this year, but our balcony peppers appear to have thrived anyway.

Getting preemptively sad about the birds we are leaving behind in a few weeks.

Good lizard!

Fingers crossed, this doesn't start screaming at us the way it did when it flooded a month ago. #StopFuckingRainingAlready

I need it to stop fucking raining already. #mnwx

Our roof is similarly fucked up with a ceiling leak.

Does your building have electricity yet? We've been back on the grid for about 6 hours.

We did find the playground eventually, it looks like it hopped over the building, but couldn't stick the landing.

A little before and after:

One was from a few weeks ago, the other as of very early this morning. #mnwx

My grandmother's rule was we couldn't plant our garden until after Memorial Day. Hopefully ON Memorial Day is safe enough.

Here's hoping for success with everything, but mostly CANTALOUPE.
