The whole premise seems to be fewer legal bets + increase in total legal bets —> increased illegal bets.
But if betting cos. are raising mins or absorbing the hit on bigger bets (incentivizing bigger bets) & some taxes are per bet, wouldn’t people naturally place fewer, bigger bets in response?

My only comment on MTG’s rehab tour is that I’ve heard ICE agents call protesters “traitors.” Seems bad, the guys with the guns putting a target on your back.

Exactly. The only true “out of towners” we’ve met in Broadview are media & streamers.
Broadview is approximately the size of a postage stamp. Here are two maps for reference. The ICE facility is in the NW corner of Broadview, where if you travel more than a block N,E, or W you are in another town.

Reminder that just this year Alds. Ray Lopez and Silvana Tabares introduced an ordinance to rollback protections to once again allow CPD to work with ICE if they claimed it was related to any gang, drug, or prostitution activity. Nine other alders supported it.

Today I didn’t see much notable at Broadview, but on this point, state troopers arbitrarily decided not to let an Amazon delivery driver in an Amazon truck approach to deliver packages to ICE. They made him walk the full length of the block. But yesterday they let a delivery truck right up front.

This is absolutely the tactic. So many arrests were just someone taking a step over a line, or not knowing new rules the cops just made up, or at curfew, cops targeting protesters who were mouthy earlier in the day. Or no apparent reason at all. Prosecutors really should drop all of these.

They boarded up all the windows on the building when this operation started in September. I think it was more about optics (war zone/under siege) and their worry that people may throw objects to break them.

This camp is in El Paso. This is where today’s flight from Gary just landed. It was carrying detainees from ICE’s detention facility in Broadview.

Not only is it real, but the USDA website blames Democrats for the lack of funding while also threatening grocers that they’ll come after them if they try to help people.
