Impact assessment on assisted suicide Bill worsens critics’ fears for vulnerable groups - focus on equal access to assisted death rather than risks of legalisation for oppressed groups wrongheaded, MPs and campaigners say.

This is right. We’ll see lots of spin today but don’t forget that Labour have created their own problems by arbitrarily sticking to “fiscal rules” that have punished working class communities & ensured that there won’t be a recovery for public services & decent social security 🙄

We tried to tell you.

It won’t just take tinkering, it would take the complete reversal of the govts disastrous austerity policies.

And tbh, it’s more likely that Labour will double down rather than reverse austerity, so join us on the streets on June 7: thepeoplesassembly.org.uk

Local elections highlight the need for 'positive answers':

Left campaigners said that today’s local election results will show how the Labour leadership has “killed hope” by continuing Tory austerity. From The Morning Star:

New FBU general secretary Steve Wright has called on Labour MPs to rebel on the government's welfare cuts when it comes to a vote next month. 👏👏👏

Cuts to disability benefits are due to leave millions of people thousands of pounds a year worse off. 👇

‘Birmingham Council and Gove's commissioners have already made cruel cuts to SEND transport, Day Centres and drastically reduced Library hours. With 100% cuts to Arts and culture this year, what's next? We can't allow this to happen unchallenged.’

From the FBU:

“Solidarity with striking bin workers in Birmingham!

We're advising members not to carry out any strike-breaking work. The FBU are in full support of striking refuse workers.

Firefighters are humanitarians and trade unionists – we do not break strikes.”
