Julian reminds us that we, in more wealthy countries, contribute more to climate change and suffer fewer consequences. By contrast, people living in places such as the Philippines suffer the brunt of climate change, whilst contributing the least to its causes.

Crucially, most IDPs are located in eastern regions near the front line (like Dnipro/Kharkiv), not the safer west. They need urgent support for employment, affordable housing, and humanitarian aid.

📉💶This displacement brings severe poverty. Only 67% of IDPs have a job, and 67% must pay high rent in private accommodation. The reality is dire: 1 in 10 IDPs has had to sell their actual home to cover basic living expenses.

Based on the identified needs, we will release up to €80,000 from our Club of Friends to mitigate the effects of disasters that have recently struck the Philippines. And we will continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to support the people of the Philippines in the coming days.
