I recommend watching Recollect first of all of them — Welcome to Solstice and Soursalt are interchangable in watch order/I've seen people watch them fine either way and get a cool experience, but Recollect does a great job at establishing the backbone of why all this matters and the heart within this spooky, bittersweet, surreal Mythos that I've been obsessed with since 2016. There's also https://www.nightmind.info/drama-projects/south-ave%2C-us-hwy-160 , which isn't technically connected to RotOS but does contain a lot of allusions (like the existence of the Sea of Myself) and a lot of the same folks (my friends and I) for those interested in seeing more of our wacky works out there. :3 Major CWs for body horror, eye gore, blood, flashing lights, drug usage, and other such things. This is definitely a horror mythos and you can tell (especially in Soursalt, good LORD). tl;dr for each series: Recollect is a loose adaptation of Sisyphus where Sisyphus is an autistic faildude of a monster hunter and the boulder is the trauma he keeps causing to other people around him. More fantastical than the others, but also more focused on the drama. (Crow Locke's in this one.) Soursalt is about a haunted channel connected to a spooky dream realm and those infected by its rotten Spread. Straight up cosmic horror. Solstice is about a stoner slowly losing his mind in a town he can't leave. Horror comedy... for a while, that is. It's slowly congealing into drama-horror with this latest arc. (Shrike/Contestant #42 is in this one.) SORRY FOR RAMBLING BUT I HOPE THIS HELPS. This is and has been my greatest passion project to work on alongside friends for YEARS. It is nothing short of a joy to get people into it. Recollect and Soursalt start out slow because they were both made in 2016, but if you stick with them through the shaky execution at first, it is so much more fucking incredible than people give it credit for and it flourishes in such cool ways.

Much of her story surrounds her connections to Angelus/the Red Dragon from Drakengard 1 and Aera Mirus Fleuret + Lunafreya Nox Fleuret from Final Fantasy XV. These connections are known as Attunities, and basically act as past lives for her. She’s canonically fictionkin, in short. Her Echo allows her to compel people to tell the truth so she uses it to get people to talk about their life stories and deepest secrets, compiling them in books known as Records. her story is one of zealotry; faith to a bloodstained cause. about stories and how we compose our own stories, how memories fail and complete us, the way the past reaches forwards to haunt and comfort us. about the price of bloodshed - when it is justified and when it is not. Above all, it is of passion, of love under will. She wants to see the world, in all its bright and brutal glory. Her partners are Emet-Selch, Ardyn Izunia and Gladiolus Amicitia! I've modified the story of FFXIV to more aptly explore the connections and divergencies that a fuller connection to XV would bring. Art by marudyne! The lizard woman stands with blood dripping from her claws, a snarl across her beautiful face. She's decorated in the Type-53 Halfrobe of Casting. On the #Liscanon side of things, I'm still continuing to chip away at the Gladio meeting Feo Ul + Ryne fic from earlier. Slowgoing, but going.

On the "horror webseries with my friends" side of things, well, I've been playing a rather interesting new character(s?) that's highly cathartic for me...

Gladiolus turns towards Ardyn. "… So you've been here before?" "Oh, yes," Ardyn admits. "Many a time, in keeping Titania abreast of what 'our flower' was up to. And in keeping the Exarch away." Gladiolus winces at that. "The Exarch visits here?" "Oh, from time to time. The Exarch and Titania have been friends, if one could call it that, for a" An auburn messy-haired person in blue flannel, a blue shirt, bearing a nervous expression. A paper appears to be in their hands and a stained glass window lies behind them... For what purpose? A being with curly auburn hair, sickly green eyes, a nose ring, a red cowl, a GHOST tank top and intricate dark eye make-up holds out a glass of perfectly ordinary, totally not tampered with, completely natural and untainted wine to the camera. Their smile holds a little fang to it.

I've spoken about the former (Victiére de Chardon-Garlond) here before I'm pretty sure, esp. since Cid adopted them and they showed up in the very first Liscanon fic I ever wrote, but I know I haven't written about the latter so here you go
It's ironic because like, I'm pretty sure the character who I'm using as a faceclaim [Childermass from the Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell miniseries] is already on Narcissus's inspiration chart (and is the faceclaim for another one of my OCs, at that) but like. fuck it. it just fits. he just Fits. The non-evil Narcissus Shard in question goes by the codename CASSILD [tentative real name: Evariste Vallerien Collins] and he is the leader of a rebel faction in the Seventh Shard that once served under Narcissus (the Fleshdivers) that now go by the title HOLYCALLERS. He's aware of what Narcissus is, he's aware of what Narcissus is capable of, and he wants that man gone so Midgar can live in some semblance of peace. Also he's a vampire. I feast upon the little Hythlodaeus/Morevna/Hades crumbs I gave myself during that one XIVWrite story I did.
II. the poison ring "I believed," Hythlodaeus murmurs against her ear, "that it would be to your liking." Even up in their shaded box seat, looking down at the stage, Morevna can see the glint of the ring's strange jewel across her finger. "It holds a hidden compartment," she says, opening and closing the latch on the ring's side with her magic. Her eyes widen as she looks over at Hythlodaeus. His eyes flutter shut, and he smiles as he tilts his head. "But of course," he states. "What would the Ruler of Mysteries be, without secrets gleaming upon her fingers?" Morevna's mouth curls up. "And this jewel is the color of your eyes. Clever boy, to procure such a ring." "Whatever do you mean?" he whispers in a faux-scandalized tone. "Oh, t'is a mere coincidence, nothing more." Morevna lifts up the ring to admire it in the light, as the opera singer down below lifts her voice higher than it has ever been. She prods at the ring's aetheric construction. There's Hythlodaeus's energy there, and yet, crystallized at the top... Morevna's smile feels as if it hugs her eyes. "Oh, Hythy. Was Hades going to allow you to take all the credit for this shared labor of love?" she teases. Hythlodaeus shakes his head. "He can be more modest than I, sometimes."

Writing a fic where Lis introduces Gladiolus to Feo Ul and Ryne Locke Amaranth, and as you can imagine, it is going swimmingly already.
They come up to the throne room, where a tall being with warm-colored wings sits. "Long have you left me high and dry, MAB, fellow flower! How cruel you are, not to call upon me for so long! Cruel, cold, heartless! HEARTLESS!" The being slams a fist onto the throne. Lis just grins back, benevolence beaming from her soft features. "Reciprocity is a two way street, grand Titania, branch of all branches. You ought to have written me a letter, if you missed me so!" Titania's eyes widen before they throw their crowned head back to bark laughter. "A letter! A letter! Oh, MAB LETHDERG, the ways you hold to stay my fury… You did even bring your saplings, this time about!" Ardyn unfurls himself into a grand bow. "Charmed to make your acquaintance once more, grand Titania."

Anyway, all this is to say that Lis sees Fordola as a living Records Tome of her memories, and Fordola is spared in part because Lis is too vain to kill a piece of herself (even her memories within Fordola).

Fordola tries to explain the experience to Jullus one day, when she thinks they're alone:
"Imagine a world as if lit in backdrop by incandescent, holy fire — colors more vivid than any you could ever think — bitter edges sweetened as strawberries are — such power crowning her every step, such pain she holds as close in her memory as the brightest loves — yet to her, it is a sacrament in its own right — I lack, still, the words to explain how all to her is sacrament, how all of her existence is aglow with a formless flame we are lucky to be merely warmed by and not burned alive within."

Anyway, I’ve been having a great time in the Fox River Valley once again, from finding out I’m descended from a world champion women’s wrestler to eating the best fish fry of my life and filming extensively creepy footage for another project I’m working on with Micha. Life is good. :3

microdosing a LeMarchand's Box by participating in horror webseries that have been your enduring special interest for nearly a decade (or, an expositional comic explaining why I'm not posting as much #Liscanon stuff as I usually do here lately)
