Have you noticed the recent prevalence of prefacing a statement with a counterbalancing lie? Example: I didn't vote for Brexit but i agree with Farage. Or I voted Democrat but Trump is going to be just great. One should ask Susie Dent if it has a name.

All my life I would have described myself as neither a monarchist nor a Republican. However, the revelations of recent days about how the Monarchy fleeces both the NHS and British charities has changed my point of view.

Trump has charges against him dropped. The US has a tradition of pardoning turkeys in November.
