I went to a hotel in Texas last year that had a giant atrium featuring two large double-sided gas fired fireplaces roaring away, in a room a/c down to 68 degrees, and 100 degree heat outside. It was a loud statement of energy opulence.

The Rick Beato interviews with band members help explain this oddity for me. David Gilmore listened to tons of pop music and admired it. So a few ordinary sounding tracks seem less jarring. And, then and now, he plays acoustic frequently.

The other game we played back then was Regatta, a sailing simulation,which turns out to be a great mini game for sea battles in D&D.

We played a ton of this on my dad's boat in the 1970s to pass the evenings before bed. I remember feeling like a grown up because I could play. The cards were always a bit sticky from the salt air.
