No rhyme or reason to it, that I've seen. Many stories are still getting approved and published within 48 hours or less. I haven't submitted a new story in a couple of months, but I'm getting close to finishing a new one, so we'll see what happens... 🤷♀️

I personally have no complaints, I've been blessed with wonderful story comments, my ratings have been good, I've talked to and collaborated with amazing writers! I want Lit to last forever, it's a bastion of un-enshittified creative community!

Some authors are seeing loooonnngg delays with the publishing queue, weeks and weeks for some. I'm seeing hints that the site's sole admin/owner isn't as active or engaged as they used to be. Transparent communication was never their strong suit, but I'm worried that it's getting worse 😐

I want that to be true, I hope that it is! But there are other signs of platform decline besides just the publishing queue problems, and I'm worried about a cascade of authors fleeing.
I'm not planning on going anywhere! I just think that maybe I should be publishing in more than one place.

Ao3 seems like total anarchy to me, my brain can't even parse what I'm looking at any time I go there and try to find stories to read.
Are there other options I should be looking at, or am I missing something with these other sites?

I've tentatively toyed with @gettheoreads.bsky.social, slick looking, but absolutely zero reader engagement of any kind.
I like a lot of what Wattpad has going on in terms of interface, but I don't think I understand what reader expectations are there...

My headcanon is that Starfleet Shipyards is a dumping ground for all of the Federation's most neurodivergent engineers, and they let them build whatever crazy thing they want because one in a hundred designs ends up being incredibly useful.

Out of curiosity I made an account and submitted one of my shorter stories just to see what would happen...
I don't much like how AI-integrated it is, and there was an opt-out button I had to click to prevent it from adding my story to its LLM's training dataset. We'll see what happens, though!
