Regardless of how it feels, it's counterproductive for us to punish the behavior we want to see. It's basic conditioning: reward wanted behaviors, punish unwanted behaviors. Punishing them for their doubts only makes them double down.

Do we want to dismantle harmful power structures for the benefit of all, or do we just want our turn on top? If we don't get rid of the idea that it's justified to harm other people, then we will always hover on the brink of fascism. Violence is a cycle; the bigger person stops it.

It may not be fair or feel good, but yes. They're brainwashed. We *want* them to get better. The world will never improve if they never change. And our desire to punish them comes from the same BS hateful programming that made them the way they are.
