That makes sense

Doesn’t this already happen? When we bought our house (in 2009 admittedly) we had a visit from council soon afterwards & then were revised up 2 CT bands based on an extension built by previous owner.

The sale triggered the revaluation apparently

Mock Turtles - Can you dig it?

Or staying in the country at all!

Completely this! The whole system is designed to protect the interests of a group which will always take its economic good fortune as proof of its hard work and moral superiority.

Drives me mad

It is incredible just how many of the complex economic and societal challenges facing this country have the housing crisis and the planning system at the root of the problem.

Labour haven’t made as much progress with reforming the latter as I’d hoped.

How lovely!

That’s a fascinating article but I’m now having to do some box breathing due to worry about my sons.

That will be the excuse!

That’s a fair point but I suppose mine was that he spends his money because he knows he’d lose eventually but knows those he sues can’t afford to spend years tied up in legal action.

That’s why they settle.

Every legal expert I’ve heard interviewed on this says it wouldn’t stand a chance because US has such a high bar for libel.

Trump spends millions on this sort litigation he knows will fail to try and bankrupt those who criticise him.

Its shithousery & bullying

Hasn’t most of the Telegraph readership been banging for decades about terrible the 70’s were because Labour were in power for some of it?

Reeves did box herself in but can anyone really not imagine how it would have played out if Labour had tried to keep the door open to a big ticket tax rise?
October 29, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Worse than forgetting you owned 7 flats too.

Problem for Reeves is that there are plenty on the left that want her scalp as well as on the right.

That’s what worries me

Love Caitlin Moran.

I visited Mile End recently for work and thought how much nicer it was than when we drove down it as kids in the 80’s visiting family. And nicer is an understatement.

IME it’s always dull people who dislike or are scared of London.
