🪸Up close with the rock boring urchin. 🌊 Look at Echinometra lucunter's striking red test & spines! ❤️ This eco-engineer has high genetic 🧬 diversity, thanks to its widespread range & larval dispersal capacity. #reefmas #echinoday 🦑🌎

Still pretty sick, but I drew a cute Tergiposacca Longicerata nudibranch for #Nudivember! Their eggs are so bubbly looking. 💜🫧

The blue dragon (Pteraeolidia ianthina) is today's #Nudivember species!

They are found in the Indo-Pacific West and what's really cool about these is that they are solar powered! They farm zooxanthellae inside their bodies to convert sun into food.

Carrying on with International Sea Slug Day - this is Trinchesia sibogae from southern Oman. This was taken on my last dive before the world shut down for Covid and I was nearly trapped in Oman for 6 months. #Nudibranch #MarineLife #Seaslug #Inverts

North Atlantic right whale numbers grow but protection is urgent - Oceanographic
While conservationists rejoice at a 'slight population increase', protection for the North Atlantic Right Whale is needed now more than ever.

During last week's king tides I didn't see a whole lot of nudibranchs (sea slugs) but was lucky enough to see several Hopkin's roses (Okenia rosacea) - this one was about 1" (2.5 cm) long. They feed entirely on bryozoans, & are the easiest nudis to find here. 🦑 #tidepooling #marinebio 📸Olympus TG6

Carrying on the Hexabranchus theme - here are three of the different species. The first one is Hexabranchus giganteus (which can reach 60cm in length), the second one is Hexabranchus lacer and the last one is Hexabranchus sanguineus

This is Chromodoris quadricolor from the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. Commonly referred to as the pyjama slug or toothpaste Nudibranch - it is normally found on a bright red toxic sponge which it eats and then utilises for its own defence. #MarineLife #Nudibranch #Invertober #Inverts
