As others say try a little silicone in the retractable nib area. You can also buy a shiv to slip through the tines if you still experience writing issues. Plenty of you tube videos on how to use them.

This is the Platinum Nice Lilas fountain pen with a 14k nib. It used to belong to a friend. The section area was cracked. This is an issue with this pen and other colours of this type.
Another friend managed to fix the crack with light activated resin.

Kaweco spor. Carry it in your pocket. It uses cartridges or bottled ink. Inexpensive. Many colours and materials to choose from. Widely available.
