This is like when studios were told they couldn’t operate theaters. Streamers make their own content and it’s not available in other places To buy or rent. As long as I can either stream/buy/rent I don’t see it as a problem. But not the case with netflix/others.

It's really difficult in our competitive society to unlearn what's been reinforced as often as "if you really want X you have to try harder". Not just partners, but promotions, achievements, whatever. A lot of people value other people as one of those things, a trophy, another achievement to be had.
