More bicycles and better racks on the other side of the same school 👌
April 10th,and almost all the snow has already melted. Anyway, it was -7°C in the morning (it's snowing now again) and loads of kids cycled to Linnakangas elementary school in Kempele, next to Oulu Finland 🇫🇮. Like they do every school day, rain or shine, snow or sleet. Because it's easy, fun & safe.

After a total of 1.3 km of riding, we're at the destination. There is also a smaller supermarket closer to my place, but the gift card I had is for Lidl. The bike racks here are not too good and there's not enough of them (there's another set of racks behind me). I'm here early to avoid crowds. 8/x

Some 500 m on that lowest-quality (still pretty good) bike path and we're on one of our #bicyclehighway's. Easy to ride even 4 kids abreast with hockey stuff. Sure, there is also another bicyclehighway just 200 m from my apartment, also accessible via a 2nd class bike path. #meanwhileinOulu 7/x

Step two: throw in the stuff and go. This bike, or a tricycle, is an old Finnish-made #Pyrkijä probably from 1950's, sturdy steel construction, and weighs 48 kg 😅

Step one. Clear your bike from excess snow. We have several safe indoor bike storage sheds here, but they are badly designed 1970's type: the door is just 80cm wide, and my bike is 95 cm. A bike with more than two wheels can legally be 125 cm wide in Finland. 3/x

I got this 100€ gift card to Lidl as a present, and also I had to take this ikea bag full of empty bottles and cans back to grocery store for refund. Can you use all of that card and transport everything by bike? 2/x
