The time to say goodbye to the USS Nimitz forever is getting closer — both for Washingtonians and the rest of the nation.

The Nimitz will shift its homeport to Norfolk, Virginia in April 2026 and begin its decommissioning process on the East Coast.

🛥️ SAFE Boats' operation has been significantly disrupted after it was told to stop building ships for partnered countries and wait for a 90-day review before it can restore the manufacturing or before contracts are canceled.

That includes its contract to build 8 Mark VI patrol boats for Ukraine.

After Trump's executive orders to end all DEI programs were issued, all activities of the PSNS's Employee Resource Groups were shut down, meaning the groups' chats were closed and no ERG activities, like the celebration of Black History Month, will be hosted, according to a shipyard's union rep.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on December 12, Thursday, the Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine, USS Topeka (SSN 754), arrived in Bremerton from Pearl Harbor.

The Topeka, now serving for over 35 years, is the oldest fast attack submarine in the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

A Navy project to drill two wells near the #Keyport base has resulted in a large volume of #sewage_spill that affected all of Liberty Bay and some water near the west shoreline of Bainbridge Island.

Estimated spill volume: 127,500 gallons as of Monday afternoon.
