When I created my cozy heroine, Jillian, and her horse Agatha, I patterned them after me and my horse, Maggie. However, I invented an annoying little black and white paint who lived beside Agatha. That horse's name is Mister. After my first draft, I rescued a black and white horse I named Oreo!

Many years ago, my husband and I were at the Cambridge American Cemetery. An old man walked up to me and said "Thank you." I said, "For what?" He looked at the rows of white crosses and said, "If it hadn't been for the Americans, we would have lost the war." It's not about the lake and the burgers.
