One gentle clarification: What's expiring are the *enhanced* premium tax credits, not the standard PTCs. I wrote an explainer last month to address some of the questions I was seeing from clients and others - hope it helps clarify what's happening:

What's going on with ACA premiums right now?
I’ve seen a lot of confusion (and in some cases misinformation) about what’s going on with Affordable Care Act health insurance for 2026. I thought I’d put on my CPA hat and do a write up about what’s...

I am so, so tired of people from outside NC judging us for things we cannot begin to control.

Saying this again for the 10,000th time: NC is gerrymandered to hell. We did not, in fact, vote for this. The GOP has rigged the system so they can control the legislature even when we don't vote for them.

That's not correct: NC is not sending National Guard troops, SC is.

They can't be bothered to actually pass a budget, but they have plenty of time to take away our right to vote. Sounds about right.

We are gerrymandered to hell here in NC, so most of us don't have the option to vote for someone who will work for us.

Ballsy of him to assume cell towers will always be operational. Cell towers in western NC were decimated by Hurricane Helene, and residents were using ham radio to communicate with each other and the outside world.

You forgot to add: "Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Really emphasizes the truthfulness.

We all agree, I think, that this is wrong. As an NC voter, this infuriates me. If you're asking about the logistics, the NCBOE would be the people to ask. Not sure if you're an NC voter, but we use paper ballots, so there would be a record of how everyone votes.

They don't know for sure. But party affiliation is public info. And they also targeted heavily Dem areas; my county (Durham) is deep blue, and there are a lot of names from Durham on the list. They also appear to be targeting students, as I've seen the Duke campus zip code on the list many times.

Are they also used for ACA premium tax credit calculations? I feel like this will have domino effects on all kinds of things.

Thank you for trying, though. I'm a CPA, 9 years in higher ed finance, and yeah, the endowment agreements control if and how funds are disbursed. I wish more people understood that.

And they're committed to enforcing the executive orders, not, you know, the law.

As a NC resident, this caught my eye. Are they really selling a federal courthouse building? That is... something.

Just wanted to say I know you do a lot, and I'm grateful for all of it, whether or not it directly affects me. Thank you!

Good for him. That's how you deal with a bully.

Any chance you could screenshot instead of linking? Some of us are trying to stay out of the cesspool. Thanks for considering!

We're in the middle of a constitutional crisis, and you're posting about tomato prices?
