That’s not to say we don’t need players in other places, of course we do, but probably Eddie and mateta go in the summer so we can recoup some £’s and hopefully sort out the other replacements.

McNeil provides us with a different way of playing, we have our speed merchants and we have pino who can find pockets of space and McNeil who can supply crosses. I’m ok with this, is 20m that much these days. We forked out 30m each for sakho and benteke. JSL, mateta and Eddie, loads of options.

The longer the game went on the more I thought we would lose, I’m ok with the point. We are clearly in a bad patch, just need to get through it. We are best when teams give us space in behind, shock horror we struggled against a deep set 10.

I actually thought pino was pretty good 1st half. Second half he was poor but so were a few others. We were always going to struggle when they sit so deep. There was v little on the bench to change things also. I’m happy with a point all things considered. New players + returners, we will be fine.

Wharton hasn’t done us any favours for today! Mateta even worse. That would improve the bench greatly. I’m trying to recall our injuries, we must have shit loads.

This isn’t a David vs Goliath match, Notts forest are favourites yes, and we probably won’t win but everyone talking like we have definitely already lost, no I can’t agree with that.

I’ve not seen many villa fans looking disappointed, but I don’t really care about that, so many players get written off straight away nowadays, you have to give people a decent chance before judging.

I found it quite amusing the number of people on here who said we shouldn’t be playing Canvot because of his lack of experience, to then watch zubimendi make an even worse mistake. Mateta can go as long as we have an adequate replacement and it’s not to a relegation rival. Ie forest.

I was unhappy with the result yesterday, but pleased that imo the players were still playing for the manager. We were still fighting this is key. A combination of bad choices/ mistakes for the key moments is why we lost. Sarr and Munoz made a huge difference. 1st half we were good. Keep faith!

I actually though that in general we played alright and showed fight. The real key moments is where we lost the game, mateta miss, bad back pass, mateta poor hold up leading to their 2nd, dodgy pen. Wharton S/O was very avoidable. Uche looked spritely, why bring him on with so little time left, idk?

You need to play to grow, if he doesn’t play we don’t see if he is up to it or not. Guehi made mistakes when he first joined. Frustrating but that is something we have to accept or we’ll go crazy.

Once again all about opinions, but Lerma in the middle is better, he is a fighter and adds much needed bite in the middle of the park. Whilst Will Hughes is terrier like in the middle he doesn’t have the physical presence that Lerma does.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t saying you were hanging him out, my point was pretty much that yes Canvot made a mistake but Mateta has also made a mistake by passing up that very scorable opportunity. IMO they are both mistakes of equal measure.

in the order of fairness rather than hanging our players out. both sides made a mistake at the back, but they punished us, whereas mateta let them off. Canvot has all the attributes for a good CB (big, strong and quick), imo we have to let him play to get better, sadly there will be mistakes

I’m not saying straight away, but once chadi riad is up to speed, surely he has to be an option. His career with us hasn’t really started yet.

We have these crises before, we will have them again. The board clearly make mistakes, but there’s a part of me that thinks these players would want away anyway. I obviously hate it but they aren’t palace fans they are doing a job and have ambitions, I don’t blame them. It is a rebuild for us though

Such a great footballer, but you’re right they are a brand. In my humble opinion they try to be everything to everyone, God knows what they are genuinely like.

I’d quite like to see more of uche, I’m not convinced he’s as bad as everyone thinks! Physically he’s good enough for the prem, too few chances given to see if he has the quality. How many players do we write off without giving them a chance.

on my Sainsbury’s shop I concluded keeping Glasner risks more outbursts further alienating parts of the fanbase taking heat away frm parish. imo , we have sold OG short. But OG could have utilised the squad better, I also think even had we backed OG, he still wouldnt have renewed.

I agree things are and certainly feel bad, but if we get a good manager in that has the players on board it will be fine. Certainly the squad needs to be addressed, it’s probably passable for this season but certainly needs strengthening in summer. Can we get a decent manager that’s the real issue.

Yeah agreed. It was probably a good job for OG to take to dip his toe into the EPL. He will get a good job, he is a v good manager but we can’t match what he wants, we just aren’t that club. I really hope we have someone lined up, and someone decent obviously!
