Top countries crossed the West-East and North-South divide. Top 15: Sweden, Japan, Spain, South Korea, Germany, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Estonia, Brazil, Singapore, Ghana, Slovenia, Kenya, Netherlands, New Zealand. Has implications for where to try out deep systemic solutions to sustainability first.

In the paper, we develop an index (like GDP, HDI or SEI) to measure the thickness of Industrial Modernity in 63 countries. Combining data from different fields, we track the ideas, institutions and practices about environment, science, and technology.
