weird question to ask here, I know, but like,, I feel like artist circles are so experienced with mental health stuff that y'all would know, haha

like,, for literal years now I can't seem to sit down and just,, do any of my hobbies on most days?? it's kind of terrifying, seeing my friends do cool shit nearly daily, while I can barely even get myself to try to do the thing I used to love most days, haha. mnfgh-- even replying to IMs can feel like a daunting task sometimes and I hate ittt, ahahh. anyone know like,, some common pitfalls I might be missing? or good tricks to try? other than seeing a psych, haha. that kinda feels like a nuclear option, I don't wanna take up a spot someone else could use more, only to get told it's cause my dumb ass fucked up my sleep schedule, hahaa,,, please I don't wanna give up my hobbies, they're a lot of fun when my brain cooperatessss for additional context, one of the hobbies is uh,, quite literally my job?? and then it kinda works, haha like,, it seems like when I have some outside force pushing on me, I can work just fine, but not when I have to be that force, myself

“dude, you gotta try one of these, they’re so good” …ha. you knew it the moment you bit into it. you denied it, you told yourself you could stop anytime, but somewhere deep down, you knew you were screwed ever since that first, ambrosial bite hit your tastebuds and the sugar and grease made everything else disappear. a donut. two. half-a-dozen. a full dozen. two dozen. even as the portions kept ballooning up, as your gut grew increasingly demanding, as the primal need to stuff more and more calories down your gullet grew louder and more desperate, you kept telling yourself that you could totally quit anytime you wanted to. even as every attempt to cut back would inevitably end in your mind constantly wandering back to those pastries, for your gut to be begging for those treats all throught the day, for you to inevitably always find yourself back at that bakery, rattling off a massive order in a desperate haze, stuffing your gullet even more desperately than before, and waking up even deeper into your addiction the next day, you just couldn’t accept that you were hopelessly dependent. it hasn’t even been that long since that first bite, yet you’ve already managed to reduce yourself to being more fat than critter, a useless hog left tired out and panting for breath by even something as small as walking half a block to the bakery to get your next fix - an activity that had started taking up the majority of your time before the bakery started delivering. it didn’t take long after that for the action of pulling out your phone to order more to become so natural, so obvious, that it’d become more like second nature, that even just seeing your phone would make your mouth water and your stomach growl. you need to stop, you need to cut back; if you gain even a couple more pounds, you’re pretty sure even just getting off the couch will leave you out of breath. …but you can’t, no, god, not yet, no - even just the thought causes an intense, painful hunger pang and floods your mind with panic. just one more. you need something to tide you over ‘till dinner, anyway. …and, well, you’ll need some dessert, too… if you’re ordering more, anyway, you might as well just start tomorrow. …and maybe order a little more, too. if you’re gonna be cutting back for real this time, you might as well go out with a bang, right? you’ll lose the extra calories in no time, anyway, right? akkoma's default character limit is 5000 chars and god damn it you better believe I'm gonna make (arguably) good use of that 😤
