just finished this afternoons #nowwatching , Inside Llewyn Davis. It's a Coen Brothers film I'd not seen but always meant to watch. Interesting, if bleak, film thats definitly worth seeing.

Plus, now it means I can listen to the @blankcheck.bsky.social episode on it :)

Text from a Wikipedia page Use in medical training "Another One Bites the Dust" was used in a study to train medical professionals to provide the correct number of chest compressions per minute while performing CPR. The bassline has close to 110 beats per minute, and 100-120 chest compressions per minute are recommended by the British Heart Foundation, and endorsed by the Resuscitation Council (UK). A study evaluating CPR chest compression rates in veterinarians and registered veterinary nurses found that Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" helped improve the accuracy of compression rates. When used as an auditory aid, the song resulted in a significantly higher number of participants achieving the correct rate of 100-120 compressions per minute, outperforming other aids like the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" However, the content of the lyrics was not considered "quite as appropriate"

Just finished the novella 'Winters Gifts' by @benaaronovitch.bsky.social and really enjoyed it. Good combination of police procedural, ancient horror and Rivers of London universe lore. Hope we do get to hear more from Agent Reynolds.

Another tasty cooked breakfast at #mEatingPlace in #Llangollen this lunchtime . Definitely one of my favourite places to eat and chill before work.
Good music as well today, with #10CC , #Eagles and #FleetwoodMac all on rotation.

OKUHARA SEIKO (1837-1913) Sandpiper c. 1900-1910 Woodblock print Annie Garnett's archives reveal that she was a collector of Japanese woodblock prints. Collected between 1900-1930, the prints within her collection vary in subject, from nature prints of birds and plants, to figurative prints that narrate popular folklore strories. This print of a sandpiper is by Okuhara Seiko, who like Annie Garnett, was a pioneering artist working in a male daminated industry. Seiko grew up during the Edo-period (1603 -1868), a time in which the arts flourished in Japan. Yef opportunities to train to become an artist were often only made available to men. Apprenticeships were usually heredi tary and were kept within the ruling samurai class, with father's training their sons. Okuhara Seika was born the daughter of a high-ranking samurai. Intent on pursuing a career as an artist, the family organised for Seiko to be adopted by an aunt who lived in a neighbouring prefecture that allowed for the artistic training of woman of noble birth. Seiko became a highly successful artist and was part of Japan's Literati In their early career, they changed their name to Saika, a gender-neutral name meaning 'clear lake, and began to dress in male clothing. Although it is not known how Seiko chose to identify in their lifetime, they chase to live their life outside of the gender binary, and today they are considered to be a trail blazing queer artist within Japanese art history.
