We recently received footage from the trial deployment of a SubCam at Atlantic Mariculture Ltd.!

More SubCams are set to go out to our partners this coming spring as part of our #UnlockingThePowerOfSeaweed project in partnership with @wwfcymru.bsky.social @wwf.org.uk funded by the #NationalLottery

A throwback!

A grey seal is captured by a SubCam during 2023 in East Pickard Bay. This video is part of an 18-month project monitoring biodiversity over Exo Engineering's ExoReef units in @metawales.bsky.social

Glimpses of the sky and the sea in Bideford Bay! Our drone captured this peaceful flyover of Algapelago whilst out on fieldwork in July, and we thought it provided a gorgeous contrast to all the life we're observing below the waves with our SubCams.

After a break, we are happy to share Farm Findings 6!
Read all about why Welsh waters are ideal for seaweed growth, and what that means for crop yield at farms like Câr-y-Môr. Link in bio!

"When the fragments of seaweed blades naturally fall, they settle to the seabed and integrate with sediment, where they may remain for hundreds of years"

'Farm Findings 5' shares some of our research into seaweed's properties as a potential long-term carbon store. Link in bio!

"Less than a year later, organisms such as seaweeds and shellfish were observed to be growing densely on the surfaces of the surrounding rocks, as well as on the chains and anchor."

'Farm Findings' 4 is out! We're sharing observations of Câr-Y-Môr's block and chain moorings 8 months apart.

“Seaweed farms are ideal for marine mammal monitoring through passive acoustics, as they often collect local data that can be compared with dolphin and porpoise activity..."

‘Farm Findings’ 3 is about monitoring for cetaceans around seaweed farms, drawing on our work at Câr-y-Môr! Link in bio.

“At all three monitored sites species presence remained consistent during and after farming operations, demonstrating that local species and seaweed farms can coexist in harmony”

Our second ‘Farm Findings’ is up, link in bio!

“The many surfaces created by the ropes, buoys and anchors of the seaweed farm allowed organisms to naturally settle and grow, creating reef-like microhabitats that mirror those of local shallow reefs.”

We're excited to announce our marine monitoring partnership with @wwf.org.uk, funded by @tnlcommunityfund.org.uk.

We'll be deploying our SubCams and GrowProbes to understand how growing seaweed impacts marine life in U.K. coastal waters.

Last year we ran a series of coastal community leaders workshops in Holyhead. This year we reached back out to check in on our alumni and their local initiatives!

Hear what they had to say, in their own words, at our link in bio.

We're re-introducing ourselves!

"At PEBL CIC, our mission is clear and urgent: we aim to transform marine monitoring by making it consistent, unobtrusive, and affordable."
