The biggest in the US are anarchist and most of the members live under the poverty line. Many run worker cooperatives (harnessing the power of production). The point of building community is the opposite of individualism.
Not saying all is perfect, but we don't all fit into a broad stroke either.

This is fascinating! It is interesting to think about how it could have continued and thrived if they ran a business to support the community.
