Hour count unknown, but it has not been very long! I've poked at the game theorywise for a long time though, trying to understand how it works. I usually research everything I can before delving into something like this.

It really depends on the game itself! Gradius Gaiden is a console only release and has very fun recoveries; whereas Gun-Nac has awful recoveries

Because learning the recoveries in games can be very rewarding, much like a puzzle to solve. However, this whole idea falls apart if there are no checkpoints.
