But once upon a time, he was a boy who read stories and wanted to be a hero. Who wanted to be part of those epic adventures.

And in a way, all of his actions, selfish as they have been, have lead to an outcome of the greater good.

What a tragedy, to only ever be the villain.

Perhaps it is. Perhaps he truly had no better motive than his own personal satisfaction. Perhaps he had become so used to playing the role of villain that he could not justify the results of his actions as anything other than his own petty desires.

Is it truly coincidence that the prince who would bring Garlemald to ruins chose the weapon of the Reapers, those who in days before his great-grandfather’s reign, cut out Garlemald’s corruption before it could fester and rot?

And when Fandaniel presented him with an array of weapons for his choosing in the midst of this plan to bring Garlemald to ruin for his glorious hunt, wouldn’t he have known the stories?

When he discovers that his father, the Emperor, in the face of a collapsing empire will resort to a coward’s weapon, he lashes out and puts it to rest. Did he decide that if the empire was so weak that it must resort to poison, it was better off in ruins from the outside in?

When he discovered we were gone, swept away from our bodies and unavailable to be his companion, only then did he decide to go retrieve his body from Elidibus. Fate had told him he could not become a better person, so he didn’t- he takes over a Garlean man and goes off instead.

When shunted into another body- the candle of his life reigniting by surprise, his first thought is to find us on the battlefield. Not in the body of a Garlean soldier, but as a Resistance soldier. Did he intend to get close to us? To actually attempt to play the hero this time?

Did he know that it would start the domino effect of the collapse of his father’s empire? Surely he must have, raised in military matters and trained in history as a prince must be. Did he know that by making these countries break and rebel, he would doom the empire he was supposed to inherit?

He says it quite plainly, too. At the fall of his reign over Ala Mhigo.
That he played his role to perfection. He did not see any other option for himself, and therefore decided to be the villain that would break people so badly a hero would rise up and kill him.

Thank you! I’ll be sure to credit you, too, and link back to the original mod if it goes live on XMA.

Oh, I’d love to try and make this for Bibo+!
What are your permissions on editing? Obviously don’t want to do something without asking.

My first foray into modding and I’ll actually present it and package it… once I figure out how to do that.
