💡 We also had several sessions with the Empire Fighting Chance staff. EFC’s Box Champions model is an effective, supportive intervention for young people that integrates principles of mental health, physical exercise, & community, in non-contact boxing training.

The group met w/Claire Moody, the regional police + crime commissioner, an elected civilian role, and Helen Moody, the regional mayor, to exchange good practices in conducting serious violence reduction, including by first understanding the nuance and details overlooked in the nature of the problem.

Bristol is home to dynamic cultural sites, & has a long history of residents standing up for their rights through art and protest.

Our PiOC delegation visited sites such as Banksy’s artwork in Harbourside and MShed museum’s exhibits on how Bristol people have protested for their rights over time.

🥊 Tuesday featured a tour of Empire Fighting Chance. Their newly-built annex was inspired by a previous visit to Medellin, Colombia, to learn from fellow PiOC network member Medellin Resiliente on community spaces that support violence reduction aims.
