One of the pitfalls of the polarized understanding of the Palestine / Israel crisis and it's history is that it has convinced generations of Pro-Israel and Pro-Palestinian peoples that retribution is more important than solution.

We commonly hear that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Also true is one nations noble soldier, is also another nations oppressor. We are all a product of our surroundings, and two things can be true at the same time. It is how we break this cycle that matters.

The Finance Minister of Israel publicly stated that it's possible to depopulate the Gaza strip by half its inhabitants within 2 years by creating an environment that encourages "voluntary emigration".
This is ethnic cleansing. Until Israel publicly rebukes & punish him they embrace his words.

War criminals never call themselves war criminals.

Those calling for a Free Palestine but also for the destruction of the current state of Israel aren't grounded in reality. Those who call for a two-state solution but without dismantling the West Bank Settlements are too, not grounded in reality.

Starvation of a population to further the military goals of a conflict is a war crime. I don't care how many enemy combatants you may believe are hiding among the civilians. It justifies it not one bit. #Israel #Palestine

Explanation does not equate to Justification.

We can understand the reasons behind why something occurred without condoning the event itself.

If we cannot do that, we cannot reasonably expect to progress towards meaningful dialogue and actionable solutions.

In 1929 a group of 300 Revisionist Zionist youth marched to the Wailing Wall/Al-Buraq. They came with flags and chants declaring "The Wall is OURS!"
That is a historical fact. But without asking WHY we give in to polarizing rhetoric.
The Why was it was a reaction to months of provocation. But why?

Until both Israelis and Palestinians embrace ALL aspects of their story's history (and not just the cherry picked parts that make their side "sound good"), there can be no hope for true meaningful progress between the two peoples.
