How many nukes are there?
Every point of this map represents one of the 12,000+ nuclear warheads in the world today- 1 ever 200 miles or so across the land surface of the Earth. Each could annihilate a city.

It's 8:15, and that's the time it's always been...
Setsuko Thurlow, tireless campaigner for the nuclear ban, graphically describes the morning of 6 August in Hiroshima in 1945.

Antony Owen is an award-winning poet and patron of @cndpeaceed.bsky.social. His work offers urgent challenge as we look back on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in a world still dominated by nuclear weapons. Check out Post Atomic Glossaries at from the Quaker bookshop.

Why is conflict resolution education important? We find this description really helpful. Listen to Tom Leimdorfer read this section of Quaker Faith and Practice, which he wrote with Sue Bowers in 1990.

Conscience Alley is a class activity to engage everyone in ethical thought. 1 person walks between 2 sides of a Dilemma, hearing each person's best reason before deciding.
eg. Should Friar Laurence marry Romeo & Juliet?
Should schools ban phones?
Should Truman drop the bomb?
What would you ask?

We quote @monishabajaj.bsky.social a LOT in our teacher training, encouraging educators to engage with their own positionality and relationship to power and systems of violence

"Peer mediation has given everyone a voice in our school." Mrs Shepherd as a headteacher highlights that peace takes time but builds empathy and kindness and a community where everyone is included. She's excited about year 6 mediators taking their skills to secondary schools.
