It's easy to prejudge and categorize others. It's been going on since the dawn of time. If people would abide by a regular practice of seeing each other for their humanity, seeing each individual for the person inside and the things that make him or her uniquely special, clearly there never would have been human slavery. There would never have be such violent struggle over lands, merciless genocide, or political squabbles. It would be much clearer to see the needs and feelings of others around us, and therefore easier to celebrate their happiness with them and comfort them in times of sadness and challenge, and weep with them in times of personal tragedy and misfortune.

Today I got the most beautiful text from my "bonus" daughter and her fiancé in Kenya, acknowledging that today is the first anniversary of my mother's death, and saying a lot of really nice things about how my husband and I are continuing her legacy of helping people in less developed countries. 😭
