Um and idolizing Putin.

Fortunately for your argument, pretty sure he murdered Colombians, not Venezuelans. It makes your case a nudge cleaner.

I'm getting sick of the hired help thinking their voice carries the same weight as an elected. She's a senior government executive; the mayor should have some discretion as to who is in those roles. At least she was clear that she accepted the termination.

I'm with Hegseth's mother. He's a bad guy and also pretty slow.

And of course Deng reimagined Socialism to accommodate the growth benefits of believing markets exist and trying to harness them to your advantage but keeping the authoritarian bits.

Housing wasn't privatized in USSR but was immediately afterwards. Of course the fun of cheaply built housing is it depreciates fast, and it's better to be a renter than an owner when the building needs extensive repairs.

The Krushevas and Brezhnevas I've been to were I believe still apartments, albeit with long term tenure. But they were built cheap! (And because they were huge improvements over what people had been living in, were, in fact, huge improvements.) But they were cheap!

Whereas, for a variety of reasons, we can't seem to build public housing/social housing/whatever on a like for like basis with market rate housing. The new Julia West House is all Studios or 1BRs at a construction cost of $404K per unit. Not clear if that cost includes the lan.

Encouraging private housing development is THE cheapest way to reduce rent for renters, up and down the income scale. New market rate housing generates tax revenue and building permit revenue while driving down rents in A, B AND C class apartments.

He joined the Soviet side in the new Cold War so...

Empiricism in policymaking is something unique to the Democratic party in this country but even then, it's at best a weak majority of Democrats who are fans of empiricism.

Think how much could have been accomplished if Peacock had, in lieu of an Austrian vacation, instead hired some experts who could ID where Council could trim these costs for future projects!

Russia made so many mistakes about its adversaries and allies in WWII. Always in the direction of underestimating others' capabilities. Stalin lost so many men to basic strategic errors. And so many civilians who could have been evacuated to boot!

LOL at Finland. ROTFL if you know the history.

I've just become disillusioned by so many supposed YIMBY victories. Recent example: how we legalized single staircase housing, except for any streets they might pencil out on, due to fire codes.
November 25, 2025 at 3:29 AM
There are few places in US where replacing existing commercial space like this would pencil. Congrats to San Francisco for strangling supply long enough to be one of them?

In fairness they aren't too kind to the bootlickers either.
November 25, 2025 at 1:38 AM
Trump at least is in his heart of hearts a Kremlin bootlicker. I think Vance lacks even that principle.
November 25, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Socialists arguing with each other about ideological distinctions no one else cares about is, like, the definition of Socialism, though. It's the one thing that almost all of them can agree on.
November 23, 2025 at 4:12 AM
This doesn't sound true. Grok says Musk has done more for mankind than Jesus and is one of the smartest and most accomplished people ever to have lived. Up there with Adolf Hitler.
November 21, 2025 at 3:48 AM
The thing that's mad is, given the number of Venezuelan migrants throughout Spain and Latin America, it would be possible to assemble a coalition to take care of the problem for an America who never elected Trump.

I am going to be so angry at the scriptwriters if the real pee tape turns out to be with Bubba.

Turns out one stupid referendum can really wreck everything for years.

90% is probably slightly low.

This misunderstands the role of the more radical version of Socialist epistemology, which places ideology above truth. (See for instance, Michel Foucault.) You're trying to argue facts with people who literally think truth is not a component part of epistemology.
