Portland needs way more rain. Water year-to-date, we're an inch behind the 25-year average and 6.5" behind last year - which is really where we need to be in general. That's a lot of precipitation to make up.

Oregon birders-can anyone identify this raptor? Seen at Fields Park in Portland this morning. Have never seen it before. The local crows and other small birds were quite unhappy. It was absolutely magnificent. It first landed on a bench near me, but I could not get my camera out fast enough.

The news coming in from Los Angeles is so tragic, I needed to get out for a walk. Have to find these moments of solace where we can. It is an oddly lovely night in Portland.
