No. She was qualified. But was she the better choice to land the aircraft in those conditions? Check out the cross-wind landing limits for that type... I landed on same type in winter with 25 knot cross-winds. Cpt approached angled until last secs. I complemented. He said he would divert if > xwind

Yes... and that's over the safe cross-wind rating for that type. Especially with a relatively inexperienced pilot (FO) landing the plane.

Also, how does the JFK-PSP perform? Another market I think B6 pulled out of, though when I’ve flown that it is on a smaller 738.

There is no nonstop jfk competition so it seems like a good seasonal choice. As an AS elite NYC flier I am happy to get more service. Like @ssegraves.bsky.social I am hoping for a mid-continent connection city to be able to fly it more.
