I remember seeing road signs there. I couldn’t figure out how Limneach is pronounced Limerick. Maybe it’s not, but it shows that they don’t transliterate well.

By would correct pronunciation of words that don’t look like they sound be helpful to a stranger in a car? It seems like it’d just be confusing. I know in Irish the words don’t much resemble the sounds.

The only Maori I’ve heard was on Wellington Paranormal. Probably not a great resource.😏

Yeah, mine pronounced Syracuse as Sigh-RACK-use, not SEER-a-cuse. And I live not far from Syracuse.
