I think it depends on how they've defined colonies in the data set as much as anything. Like the spike post WW1, it seems to be showing League of Nations Protectorates as colonies. Not commenting on the justifiability of that, but certainly a consideration in the data.

If its kicking 13.5 when running that's a bit lower than I'd expected. It's normally up near 14/14.2 once it's fully charged, which after an hour it should be

My south, which includes the Midlands, starts at roughly Stoke. Or worded differently, the north starts at Stoke, anything south of that is simply 'not the North'.

Yep, chiefs and POs who've been in longer than I've been alive are what keep the service running!

As an officer, I can't say I disagree. There's lots of things I don't need to know

They are named in the story....

It's very much north American. It happens, more in the UK than Europe, but it's pretty well clamped down on compared to what it used to be

Vintage is great, and for the big overcoat military greatcoats are often a steal. Mine is Swedish navy, and was ~£90 including getting it adjusted

Skye the bunny says hi (and hopes you have treats!)

Absolutely not!
November 4, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Yes, absolutely. Though it's even more of an absolutely now we have a tea tap

Pretty much, since we persecuted every other predator to extinction (bar a couple of birds of prey, and even then we gave it a bloody good go)

Most violence I've ever witnessed was a (biblically drunk) bloke laying into a bin on the canal bank after it knocked his chips out of his hand. He then shouted at a badger to fuck off when it started sniffing the chips

We offered on a house like that. It was next to the railway line, and the road in front wasn't perpendicular to that, so they just did the exact same thing. Glad we didn't get it though, furniture would be a nightmare

I know a guy who is reputedly the inspiration for dibbler, after meeting Sir Terry at a gaming convention. Man was a proper wheeler dealer, but can't comment on his crypto views!

Oh god I'd never thought of that risk, but now I can't escape it!

But if there's any film to learn about the greatest team sport on earth, it's got to be the Mighty Ducks!

I'm intrigued by the shipping forecast, it's essential information for working seafarers, or is it a radio 4 thing? I'd never seen the shipping forecast as tory coded

Ah okay, I misremembered that part from your book, I thought they were basically house sharing for most of the trip, but thank you for the correction :)

Forgot about that part!

Into maths in part as well to avoid her father. So Byron being insufferable is also responsible for modern computing

Mary shelley created frankenstein whilst stuck in a mansion with byron in 1816 (I think, year might be wrong), in a ghost story competition they had, then developed it into a novel in part to avoid Byron. Not sure about the other book, but his daughter was Ada Lovelace, who was pushed 1/2

They have a seat yes, but they're either elevated, which that one clearly isn't, or a stabilising perch for kneeling. The straight out legs are something that's a kayak position
August 24, 2025 at 3:11 PM
Not really, she's clearly sat down. The K2 on the side is also a bit of a clue!

Open top kayaks (and closed canoes) are things. You sit in a kayak, and kneel in a canoe. Because of that a kayak paddle is double ended, and a canoe paddle single ended
