In one of the bars in Newcastle pre-match (Idols - now long gone) they used to do 'yard of ale' challenge and a 'curry hell' which was downing a pint of what was claimed to be hottest curry in the world from an Indian restaurant in the bigg market.

Rode our luck? Should have been 3 up by half time!

Think most would agree Burn should start at left centre half. At LB his ball playing is severely limited and has impacted Gordon. He's got 2 balls... short to feet to Gordon with his back to goal or short to feet to the other centre half. Not his fault, but him at left back as hampered us a lot.

I blame social media and the bed wetters for the trend in deciding if someone is a flop after 10 games. Like there has to be an opinion and they have to give it. Rather than say someone has been disappointing but they may have the quality/ coaching to turn it around once settled.

Howe isn't a negative manager, he'll generally play positive. But he's been very negative away from home this season. And teams have realised they can push their defenses right up against us the past few games and we're not good playing in confined spaces.

And our overall record this season is P17 W8 D3 L6 F27 A17 +10

Which isn't too bad and shows howe is still extracting performances from the players. The past 2 away games have really put a downer on the season so far, particularly West ham

Must be exhausting panicking after a period of poor results/ form. It happens. Especially after where we've come from and our over performance the past few years. Progress isn't going to be a constant straight line.

I'm going to screenshot this and send it to him 😉

The atmosphere was decent last night I thought and I'm usually one of the first to say when it's a bit rubbish

When Burn is LB, Gordon impacted x 3... 1. expected to get back & cover more as teams target burn's lack of pace (impacts energy levels) 2. quality & promptness of passes to him from burn is poor (more easily pressed) 3. he gets very little attacking support from Burn (easy to double up on him)

You can't count any signing as successful/ unsuccessful 12 games into a season.
November 2, 2025 at 10:29 PM
The full back situation has crippled us today. Not burn's fault, but he's extremely limited in his distribution & attacking output. That's not to excuse the overall performance, poor passing and lack of energy. Hall needs to show be can play week in week out or we'll have to look to buy a left back

More like dortmund

Id prefer them to do something different from the bowl style stadiums. Go back to a predominantly 4 sided but with corners filled in and with steep terracing. Seats close to the pitch. Anything like Wembley, Emirates etc that prioritise corporate will destroy any remaining atmosphere.

They've played the right teams at the right time

That Croatia Zagreb team were superb. How we got past them I'll never know. Prosinecki ran the show at St James'.
October 23, 2025 at 6:55 PM
It's amazing... him playing for real versus villareal. They had loads of cameras on him and that's the whole documentary, just him gliding around the pitch!
October 22, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Yeah true. Have you ever seen the Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait documentary?
October 22, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Probably the best player I've seen at St James'. His touch and close control were unbelievable.
October 22, 2025 at 7:13 PM
If he makes Elanga and Woltemade into better players, then I think we're at the point where players are asking to play for him. Then the likes of Ekitike, who have the scope to be elite level players but are a step below will come to Newcastle.
October 22, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Just need to look at what he turned Schar, joelinton, murphy into to see how good a coach he is. Then how he turned Burn, Gordon and Hall into England players... and then turned Isak into one of the best strikers in Europe. Hopefully we're getting to point where players want to sign because of howe
October 22, 2025 at 5:44 PM
Eddie Howe undoubtedly making our recruiters look good too with his coaching and integration. Him having a major say in who/ what type of player we sign also a big factor. Spurs sign players then expect their manager to do something with them, rather than let the manager have much of a say, if any.
