The best shows hit all the emotional beats hard and use abstraction as connective tissue for the narrative. Fantasmic, for example. Each segment has familiar IP, but the setup of being in a dream allows for a lot of disbelief suspension. 2/2

Very few shows can hit the sweet spot of abstraction. I bet most guests never “got” Illuminations, Harmonious was too safe and thus felt bland. Enchantment was also derided partially because it played every HEA beat verbatim. On the other hand, Rivers of Light was too abstract. 1/2
